School of Diplomacy Dean appointed to Board of Trustees in Archdiocese of Newark

Dean Andrea Bartoli of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark. While serving on the board, Bartoli will assist the other members in housing Newark’s homeless and supporting at-risk youth, among a number of other goals meant to improve the city. Bartoli said that even though he is a new member among members who have a number of years of experience of service on the Board, he is looking forward to his new responsibilities. “The goal that I have for my participation in the board is to really contribute to the long term viability and efficiency of the services of the Archdiocese of Newark,” Bartoli said. “This is a great tradition, and I am glad to contribute to this tradition.” Board members are selected by the Archdiocese of Newark. There is no application process. “We need to realize we are never succeeding alone. We succeed with the help of many others, our families, our friends, our teachers,” Bartoli said. “Catholic Charities help a lot of people that have difficulties in their lives, as well as the society as a whole. That is why I am so proud to be named a member to the Board.” John Westervelt, CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, also sits on the Board with Bartoli. When asked about Bartoli’s recent appointment, Westervelt is eager to work with Bartoli. “Andrea Bartoli has insight into diplomacy…he’s going to change some of our previous thinking and will bring a lot of excitement to the Board,” Westervelt said. “The Catholic Charities is really excited about this and we are looking forward to working with Bartoli.” Bartoli urged the Seton Hall community to remain committed to service. “We cannot see ourselves as separate from others, especially from the poor,” Bartoli said.
