From runways to retail, springtime fashion blooms

Spring is just around the corner and the fashion trends could not be brighter. The colors for spring are all shades of grey and greens, bright oranges and shiny metallics. According to Rachel Zoe’s website, the major fashion trends include silk blouses, ruffles, tiers, and exposed shoulders. Zoe also describes how skinny, slim high-waisted fit trousers which we have loved for years are out and slouchy, wide-leg and hip-hugging trousers are back in style. Bell bottom jeans are officially back and can be found in retailers like Madewell owned by J.Crew corporate. One of the main styles found on the catwalk are Victorian-inspired. Lace and silk fabrics complete the romantic feel designers are striving for this season. Designer Alexander McQueen’s runway show for this spring was filled with lace gowns and blouses in soft ivory and light pinks in blush tones. Calvin Klein’s spring 2016 runway show was all about daytime attire inspired by lingerie. Silk slip dresses with lace detailing. This look was also present on the runways of Alexander Wang, Balenciaga and Givenchy. Another prominent trend is Spanish-inspired ruffles and tiers. Designer Oscar de la Renta and Gucci’s spring 2016 runway shows presented these trends in bright tangerine orange and rich reds. In men’s fashion, different shades of grey, green and baggy trousers are prominent. Also, men’s shorts are getting shorter so say goodbye to baggy, long shorts and say hello to the short hemline of the 1970s. J.Crew has also brought these trends and more, but in a relaxed casual everyday style. The J.Crew spring line is full of different shades of greens and bright oranges as well as gingham and striped patterns. This fashion company is known for their love of stripes especially nautical navy and white striped sweaters and tops and there are no shortage of them this season. According to their website, they are joining the trend of wide-leg trouser with their new Teddie styled trousers which are slightly cropped with a cool kicky leg and polished front pockets that are finished with hidden zipper. This spring will be filled with new trends to try and choose from. If spring fever was not already hard to avoid, these trends will make it near impossible.
