Seton Hall Athletics[/caption]
The Seton Hall volleyball team fell to Louisville in straight sets (16-25, 10-25, and 21-25) on Saturday. This was the Pirates’ second match in the Louisville Invitational.
The Hall (4-4) struggled throughout and couldn’t find a way to stop the Louisville attack. SHU recorded 22 errors with 11 in the first set alone. Another struggle was only being able to record five blocks in the entire match, when Louisville more than tripled that total with 16.
Junior Tessa Fournier recorded a game-high 18 digs in the match, but it couldn’t make a difference in terms of giving the Hall opportunities to score due to all the errors.
Even with all the errors in the first set, the Pirates had the lead at one point, 16-15, but then the Cardinals took over by scoring the next 10 points to win the set.
Amanda Hansen and Danielle Schroeder led the team in kills by each recording eight. Right behind them was Cherise Hennigan with six kills.
Molly Sauer anchored the defense with 15 digs and Erin Fairs led the Cardinals to victory with 12 kills.
The Hall will look to get its first win in the tournament Saturday night against Utah. The team will have to find a recipe that will eliminate all the errors and translate into more success.
