Get in the spirit of University Weekend

Pumpkin painting, giveaways, games and more are all coming up this weekend for Seton Hall University’s annual Seton Hall Weekend, according to Jen O’Sheal, director of special events. Students, parents, families and alumni alike are all invited to enjoy a variety of events that will kick off with a Parent Welcome Reception on Oct. 3.

“For alumni and parents we’ll have a craft beer tasting,” O’Shael said. “As always, we have a lot of student performances throughout the day.”

Also included this year is the True Blue alumni initiative, something that Erika Klinger, associate director of campus partnerships in Alumni Relations, said is “Seton Hall’s loyalty recognition program as well as supporting the many other efforts and events” sponsored by Alumni Relations.

“One of my favorite reunions is the Golden Pirates reunion which is for alumni who graduated 50 years ago,” Klinger said. “It’s a special event and is great to see the reaction of these men and women when they come back and see all of the changes and additions to campus.”

Klinger added that the alumni “have the best stories about Seton Hall!”

All the events though are not just for alumni. Students and their families can enjoy the Flippenout’s Extreme Trampoline Show on the green three times during the day. They will be performing twists, triple flips and other complex acrobatic routines, at heights of 25 feet or more, according to the shu.edu schedule of events.

“Every year we try to build upon the success of the previous year,” O’Sheal said.

All the events do not come together overnight. Seton Hall Weekend has been a year in the making.

“We start planning as soon as University Weekend finishes,” she said. “It takes about a year, really the crunch time is right after commencement.”

Freshman Angeli Fernandes is looking forward to attending Seton Hall Weekend. She has attended in the past when her sister was a student at SHU.

“University weekend is a lot of fun, I have been before and am excited to go again this year as a student,” Fernandes said.

O’Sheal asked that students use the hashtag “#SHUWeekend” during the event.
