Blue Beard Army to pick their rags

Two students with a talent for aesthetics will be able to win the opportunity to pick the senior day wardrobe for the Blue Beard Army, the newly named student section for men's basketball games at the Prudential Center.

The marketing department for Seton Hall Athletics is running a contest for 2014 Senior Day T-shirt designs.

The winning designers will receive a $250 award.

The last design contest was during the 2011-2012 campaign, when a men's shirt displayed star players Jordan Theodore and Herb Pope atop Mount Rushmore.

The T-shirts will be distributed at the final home game of the season for both the men's and women's basketball teams.

Two designs will be chosen, for the final women's home game against Xavier on Tuesday, March 4.

The other design will be for the final men's home game on Monday March 3, also against the Musketeers.

The department is looking for ideas reflecting and highlighting the five seniors on the men's basketball team and the three seniors on the women's basketball team, and the ideas also should take into account the design of the overall Seton Hall brand.

"We are looking for two T-shirts; one for the men's team and one separate for the women's team, (but) if someone has a generic T-shirt design, we are open to that as well," said Kelly O'Neill, assistant athletics director for Seton Hall athletics marketing.

"It can be anything: numbers, names, quotes or anything else regarding the seniors."

All designs need to be submitted by noon on Friday, Jan. 31.

The designs for each team will be chosen by Seton Hall athletics administrators and coaches and then posted on the Seton Hall athletics website, shupirates.com, where the public can vote on which they like the most. Public voting will take place from Feb. 3-7.
