Williams hilariously ‘Crazy’ in new show

Newly added to the CBS lineup on Thursdays at 9 p.m. is the sitcom “The Crazy Ones.” This new show is focused on main characters Simon Roberts and his daughter Sydney, played by Academy Award winner Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar, respectively. The show highlights Williams’ humor, which will surely make it a hit among his fans.

Williams’ comedic demeanor as an owner and boss of an advertisement agency is hilarious, while Sydney is the responsible one in the partnership and will inherit the ad agency one day, or so her father hopes. Williams’ character comes off as flaky, but also as being a successful business man.

The show begins with Sydney pitching an idea to the staff as they rudely interrupt her to ask where her father is because she appears to be “boring” and her father is the complete opposite.

Featured in the pilot is a crisis at the agency — losing a major client, McDonalds. The agency is in an uproar, and Williams cracks jokes to try to soothe his workers and other clients. He decides to put his daughter in charge of it in hopes that she will find a way to create a new advertisement that will make McDonalds want to stay with them and use them in the future.

In the end, Sydney pulls some strings to try to get a singer to sing their jingle for a new advertisement to get the franchise back and stronger than ever. “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson guest stars as the singer who performs the ’50s classic tune with a twist.

In the end Sydney got McDonalds back as a No. 1 client, and Simon is still his outrageous and happy self.

This premiere was filled with Williams’ strong personality and jokes, making him the center and true star of the show. Though it’s been over 30 years since he starred in “Mork and Mindy,” Williams is back on television and appears to be on track for a career resurgence.
