From "American Idol" to "The X Factor," Paula Abdul is no stranger to sitting on judging panels of popular talent competition shows. On Nov. 20 she stepped out from behind the desk to perform a "Dream Medley" of her No. 1 hits from the past years on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."
The medley included remixed versions of the songs "Forever Your Girl," "Cold Hearted Snake," "Opposites Attack" and "Straight Up." Abdul combined her experience in choreography with digital projections to create an interactive, visually appealing performance that left both audience members and judges on their feet.
Abdul told ABC News Radio that she appreciates the fact that "DWTS" celebrates people who have accomplished things in the entertainment world previously. And because the performance left people wondering if a new album can be expected soon, Abdul gave some insights about her future plans.
"I'm in the process of making more music," she said. "I want to do it in ways that allow me to have great creative outlets and platforms."
Although Abdul may not have the same attitude as present-day female artists such as Rihanna and Katy Perry and is not what young people generally gravitate toward, her music was undeniably catchy in the past and a comeback could end up seeing success among both older and younger audiences.
