Women perfect in pool

The women's swimming and diving teams looked impressive in their meet over the weekend against Providence College as it cruised to victory, 176-99, remaining perfect at 6-0.

"The team as whole performed well," coach Ron Farina said. "I was really impressed with the freshmen on the women's team, they really stepped up and got a feel for the Big East in their first conference meet."

The women swam to victories in 11 of the first 12 events. They also registered their fastest times of the year in six different events. Andrea Shuba, Megan Mallon, Kelly Markwell and Alie Zelenky took home the victory in the 200- yard medley relay.

The Pirates have won all of their matchups in this event this season.

The Pirates return to the pool at 5 p.m. on Friday at St. Peter's.
