Opening with a country theme, "Nashville" lives up to its name by centering the entire show on its location. The new musical drama which premiered on Oct. 10 has the potential to be a success.
Some of the highlights were the creative script as well as the talented cast. Connie Britton plays Rayna James, a famous country music superstar whose time in the spotlight is slowly fading. The other leading lady in the show is Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere, who is a rising teen singing superstar.
The plot of an older woman having to share the limelight with a younger version of herself seems comparable to the movie, "Country Strong" in which Gwyneth Paltrow and Leighton Meester played country superstars sharing the stage.
In the first episode, tension is created, secrets are shown, and conflicts arise. Rayna wants to succeed without anyone's help, while Juliette is ready to do whatever it takes to be the new Rayna.
Musical television series are very popular right now and this show blends the music into the show perfectly.
Even if you are not a country fan, this show is relatable. It focuses on controlling one's destiny, being at a crossroads in life, and making decisions that everyone can sympathize with.
The Setonian gives this show 3 out of 5 stars.
