Student indie band comes to Cryan’s
Cryan’s will be opening its doors to all Seton Hall students on Sunday, Oct. 14, no matter the age, as a way to end the festivities of University Weekend with food and live music.
Cryan’s will be hosting Seton Hall’s own indie-rock band, The Company Kept, as part of the band’s month-long run playing Sundays at the bar. A full-service buffet will also be served Sunday.
“The Company Kept is a band of lawless college students, giving hipsters everywhere a reason to dance (and think),” the band’s Facebook page reads. The band consists of former and current Seton Hall students alike.
Admission into the bar will be free for anyone 21 years or older, however underage students must pay a cover charge of $15.
The buffet is only for those who pay the cover, even if they are over 21.
Senior guitarist and vocalist Patrick Daley said a night out at Cryan’s in support of a Seton Hall band is a great way to show pirate pride.
“It’s University Weekend, what better way to show your SHU pride with friends and family than a night out with The Company Kept?” Daley asked.
Drummer and sophomore Dan Chiera said he is excited to be playing at Cryan’s, since most of the band’s fans do not always get the opportunity to see them perform.
“We’ve been playing around [New York City], Hoboken and North Jersey a lot recently, and it’s been hard for some of our fans, especially those who are underage, to make it out for a show,” Chiera said. “That’s why we’re so excited about Cryan’s.”
Junior James Fuller said he is a fan of The Company Kept and agreed it is difficult to make time to attend any concert.
“Because of my busy schedule, I rarely get the chance to see live music,” Fuller said. “I’m so stoked for this weekend: good food and great music right in our backyard.”
Junior and lead singer Paul Singh said, “After playing shows in the city and elsewhere, it’s nice to play at home.”
