Successful' season ends for Pirates

A season filled with ups and downs came to an end after Seton Hall's loss to Massachusetts in the second round of the NIT with a final record of 21-13.

"We had a very successful year, both individually and as a team," head coach Kevin Willard said.

The 20-win season is the program's first since the 2003-04 season and third in the past 19 years. Another milestone reached during the year is the appearance in the AP Top 25 poll on Jan. 8, the team's first appearance in the national rankings since 2001.

"I am a little surprised that we did so well," Willard said. "Anytime you introduce so many new pieces to a puzzle, it's hard to get them working together, but that's also a compliment to the two seniors."
