College of Arts & Sciences chooses Zavada as dean

"Among all places I applied, when I walked away, I thought 'that's the place I wanted to go.' This is very important to me," said Michael Zavada, Ph.D, who was announced the new dean of the College of Arts & Sciences last week.

According to Zavada, he was impressed with Seton Hall immediately upon when he arrived on campus for his interview. He added that he enjoys the location, which is close to New York City, and overall environment of the University, noting the beautiful campus and University Chapel.

"It hit all the things that I was looking for in terms of a work environment," Zavada said.

Zavada added that he is "not starting in a hole," but "starting with a good foundation," and noted that his role as dean would span many areas within the college.

According to Zavada, the dean should create a collaborative intellectual environment, encourage innovation and creativity and foster a more entrepreneurial spirit within the University.

He added that during his time at Seton Hall, he wants to provide and dedicate his career to service that will have a broader impact on higher education.
