Fall TV: 'New Girl'

A new Fox series, "New Girl," starring Zooey Deschanel, will premiere on Fox on Sept. 20.

Deschanel plays "Jess," a quirky, loveable free-spirit. It's a role that we have seen her in many times before, yet can't seem to get enough of. Despite a rather accomplished career including the indie-hit "500 Days of Summer," this might just be her best role yet. This is precisely the type of girl you'd expect Deschanel to play.

The pilot opens with Jess moving into an apartment with three guys who try to help get Jess back on her feet and into the dating world after a bad breakup.

Although the premise is simple enough, the pilot was clever, witty and at times just plain funny, making for an all-around promising series. The show has already earned a great deal of praise from critics. In fact, many have stated that "New Girl" is the best new series of the fall and if the show continues to go in the same direction as the pilot, that may prove to be true.

The cast has great comedic chemistry, and Deschanel's performance is both humorous and endearing.

The pilot episode is available for free on iTunes and will be available on Hulu soon.
