University employee robbed at gunpoint

Update, 1:02 a.m.: According to a broadcast e-mail detailing the recent crime incident, a University contractor employee was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 11:10 p.m. Monday.

The location of the robbery was in South Orange, near the Newark border, at Stanley Road and South Orange Avenue.

"University personnel are urged to avoid this area for the remainder of tonight," the e-mail stated.

According to the e-mail, the suspect was described as "a 21 year old, black male." The male was 5 feet, 7 inches, weighing 130 pounds. He was also wearing a dark hoodie.

The e-mail also stated the suspect produced a "silver colored handgun and took money from the victim."

The suspect was believed the have fled on a bicycle, according to the e-mail.

A University contractor employee was robbed at gunpoint at Stanley Road and South Orange Avenue, according to a PirateAlert call and text message sent to students late this evening.

The PirateAlert warned students to "stay away from that area."

According to the alert, further details regarding the armed robbery will be released via broadcast e-mail.
