Pirates fall to Va. Tech in Cancun

CANCUN, MEXICO- Faced with their final non-conference test of the season and needing a signature out-of-conference win, the Pirates fell to Virginia Tech in overtime, 103-94, from the Poliforum Benito Juarez.

This is the second time in the last week the Pirates have lost an overtime game. The Pirates lost their Big East opener to West Virginia on Dec. 26.

Junior guard Jeremy Hazell led the Pirates with 24 points.

Junior forward Jeff Robinson turned his game around by scoring 15 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

For the Hokies, junior Dorenzo Hudson led all scorers with 41 points. He was 20 of 21 from the line in the win.

The Pirates return to action on Wednesday when they head up to Connecticut to face the Huskies. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m.
